FOR CHAD ON HIS 18TH ANNIVERSARY IN HEAVEN
Your memory is just as bright
As when you first passed from our sight.
Though it has now been eighteen years,
We sometimes still shed grieving tears.
We know you're well and happy now,
But wish you could return somehow,
If only for an hour or two,
So we could talk and laugh with you,
And hold you close and touch your hair,
And gaze into your eyes and stare.
Too soon you'd have to leave once more
And pass again through heaven's door.
But we know our wishes can't come true,
And we'll have to go on without you.
We'll have to settle for a look
At pictures in our photo book
Until the day Christ comes once more
And takes us, too, through heaven's door.
